Wheatsheaf bolsters its Executive Team with new Director appointments

Wheatsheaf Group a company that directly operates, invests in and helps to develop businesses in the food and agriculture sectors and that is part of the Grosvenor Estate announces the appointment to its Executive Team of two Executive Directors joining from leading global agritech and investment businesses. The appointments add strength and depth to Wheatsheaf’s capabilities and will enable the business to accelerate its growth aspirations. 

The appointments include:

Katrin Burt, former Managing Director of Syngenta Ventures – the corporate venture capital group of one of the world’s largest agricultural inputs companies. Katrin has over 15 years of experience in the venture capital sector, investing in and supporting technology entrepreneurs to build and scale disruptive new businesses worldwide. Katrin was a formerly a partner at Intersouth Partners based in North Carolina, investing in early stage technology and life sciences businesses.

Stephan Dolezalek, previously a Non-Executive Director for Wheatsheaf, has been a San Francisco-based private equity investor since 1999, leading a billion dollars in investments in clean energy, biotechnology and information technology. Five companies benefitting from Stephan’s involvement have exceeded unicorn status – reaching valuations of between one billion and $100Bn.

We have an outstanding international portfolio of innovative companies to deliver on these objectives that we are looking to help develop and these appointments, and the specialist skills and knowledge they bring, will help us accelerate the realisation of our aspirations.”

In addition to welcoming new members to the Group’s Executive Team, two new consultants will join Wheatsheaf’s Advisory Board providing support to food safety projects being developed in the US.

Dr Alan Barton, former Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Technologies, which recycles end of life tyres and industrial rubber, and William Hickey, the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sealed Air Corp, a provider of innovative food and product packaging solutions, will work with a number of our portfolio companies operating in the US.

These latest appointments follow that of Kevin Lane, former CEO of Ornua, the Irish dairy co-operative which includes the Kerrygold and Pilgrims Choice brands, who took up the role of Non-Executive Director for Wheatsheaf in May 2019.
